The purpose of this program is to initiate the process of making changes to the curriculum with the intent of enhancing the learning and teaching mechanism while making it more meaningful and effective for students. In higher education institutions, it involves interplay of global, national and institutional factors. Generally, it takes many forms and directions within which the meanings and methods of education delivery are altered to maximize the learning outcomes.
In Pakistan, the institution of Higher Education Commission is responsible for monitoring of developing academic programs and monitoring its implementation. Particularly, the quality assurance department (QAA) works with the Quality enhancement Cell (QEC) of every higher education providing institution, to improve the course contents to attain the learning objective. It is the responsibility of the faculty to understand the learning objectives, and then make them relevant and directly approaching the learning outcomes of the course. This program will help the participants to streamline the contents and teaching methodologies to better achieve the learning objectives. The participants will learn Teaching philosophy, course focus, break up of class activities and associated rubrics. Various workshops, webinars and activities will be held including discussions, audio-visual aids and practical exercises. The participants are expected to internalize core concepts and present their reflections. The participants will be divided into pairs under supervision of the UK alumni and will be provided with material of workshop activities sequence and a soft form of slides. The most crucial stage of the course execution is its monitoring and evaluation. To avoid the students’ grievances the evaluation techniques like creating rubrics will also be discussed with participants. A detailed session will be held on successful implementation of bloom’s taxonomy from knowledge sharing, comprehension, application, analysis, synthesis and evaluation.

Faculty vitality is the main ingredient to enhance professional education and competence. Enriching the faculty expertise in key domains of teaching, assessing, research, professionalism, and administration is perceived to improve the educational environment significantly and enhance the academic performance of learners. This segment of the project will share knowledge among all the stakeholders regarding the educational challenges faced by this province Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan and also the neighboring country Afghanistan along with global scenarios. The Higher Education Commission will highlight their role in Faculty professional development programs to all participants.
In this phase of the program, our team will aim to educate, prepare, and equip participants with the tools and skills to effectively integrate technology into the curriculum. The top three types of teacher professional development are periodic workshops and single session workshops. The importance of generating creative thinking among students and problem solving techniques will be discussed. The participants can also share their experiences and difficulties in class handling and get better suggestions from the expert trainers. The class preparation tips, planning for the lecture and its executions with a variety of teaching methodologies will be explained. Use of technology in knowledge sharing has a vital role in today’s world where the young generation is quite adaptive to gadgets and software. Google applications will be taught to participants in an activity based interactive session. Case study methods and simulations will also be included in this segment. Collaborative learning and building teaching skills will equip the faculty to create a learning environment in the classroom. Work ethics and conflict resolution must be the art of a well trained faculty member.
Research is the requirement of today’s academia at higher level educational institutes. Therefore, the faculty development program with the flavor of research skills and opening new avenues will be interesting for the participants. The program includes hands-on training to develop competency in scientific research skills. It also includes the methodologies to analyze and plan curriculum for the systematic development of students' research skills.
In this segment the participants will get awareness of research designs and its challenges and prospects. The participants will be guided how to select research topics and how to write an effective research proposal. Qualitative and quantitative research methodologies will be discussed in detail. This will facilitate participants to choose the relevant research philosophy and methodology for their final research proposals with their respective supervisors. The interactive session with participants will be held to discuss the complications faced in data collection and its management. SPSS, STATA and NVIVO are the mostly used software for business cadre research and are also the part of this program. The best practices for the write up will be discussed with the expert researchers who have published their work in national and international impact factor journals. This will encourage the participants to develop a good research work for future publication. The issues of plagiarism will be also discussed in facet.
Understanding research principles and developing a research project is increasingly required by both faculty and students. The role of this segment of the project is research-based learning to enhance research and academic writing skills in business education.
